About April

“Let us go then, you and I,
When the evening is spread out against the sky

Hi! I’m April.

As a real estate agent in the Denver Metro area for the past five years, I have learned the skills to successfully help clients sell homes and buy homes.

If you already know me, you know you can trust me to help you and never hurt you. If you don’t yet know me, please consider the following: (1) I am great at solving problems, and it is the norm for one or many issues to crop up and cause heartburn during a real estate transaction. Think of me like Maalox in human form—I will coat, soothe, and protect you and then straighten out what’s awry so we can move forward; (2) Honesty and integrity, my dear. I can give you many many people to call who will vouch for me. (3) Tenacity—once we embark on the road to buying or selling, I will be like a dog on the neck of the project, and by gum, we will get ‘er done! (4) Attention to detail—I’m well above average on this one, good at juggling and tracking and following up. And if I ever do make a mistake (mortal! human!), I will fix it at MY expense, not yours!

My Background

For 53 years I roamed the earth as April Gustafson. Then on January 1, 2018, a miracle happened, and I married Denny Phillips—he was 58, and it was a first marriage for both of us. Now I go by April Gustafson Phillips, hold the hyphen, please. Mrs. Phillips if you like.

I am a child of the West—I was born in Arizona and raised in Colorado and Wyoming. I went to college in Utah (Brigham Young University) and had a young adult adventure living and working in the Washington DC area for five years after college. My degree is in English (Just English! Not English Education! That would have been too practical!), and I have worked as a copy editor and then as an insurance company lackey. In 2015, I made the happiest career choice of my life when I got my real estate license and started helping people buy and sell homes.

When I’m not showing houses or doing comparative market analyses or entering home-for-sale descriptions and professional photos into the multi-listing website or performing other real-estate-related tasks, I enjoy reading, writing (I’m a real estate novelist), travel, movies, theater, volunteering, socializing, cooking (I am earth mother; I bake my own bread), eating, entertaining, bicycling, museums, art walks, meeting new people, learning, playing board games, and spending time with my family.

How tall am I, exactly? Six feet one and 3/4 inches. Pretty doggone tall. 🙂

Hello! How are you?

Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam… and I’ll show you a messy house.
